    EBP Myanmar Branch June 1, 2023 - May 27, 2024

    At the Myanmar branch of a Japan-based IT company, I worked on AI and machine learning projects primarily serving Japanese public-sector clients. My role focused on refining and evaluating machine learning and deep learning models across NLP, computer vision, and generative AI applications, with an emphasis on experimentation, model comparison, and performance optimization. I analyzed large-scale training and evaluation datasets, resolved complex data quality issues such as Unicode normalization between half-width and full-width characters, and built custom preprocessing pipelines and visualization utilities to support exploratory analysis, model debugging, and reproducible ML experimentation. I also conceptualized and developed fingerprint classification approaches by comparing rule-based minutiae similarity, CNN-based classification, and Siamese-network models using extracted minutiae features, achieving up to 95% accuracy. In addition, I enhanced end-to-end BERT-based workflows covering data analysis, feature engineering, pipeline design, model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation, achieving approximately 80% accuracy on target tasks. I collaborated closely with engineering teams to integrate AI models into production-oriented web applications and practical business workflows.

    For a Singapore-based gold and silver trading company, I engineered and implemented an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot designed to support business operations through reliable, domain-specific responses. I developed a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline to improve factual grounding, response relevance, and answer quality, while evaluating multiple LLM approaches including fine-tuned GPT-2, quantized TinyLlama, Llama 2 instruction models, and OpenAI Response APIs to compare accuracy, latency, maintainability, and hallucination control. I built robust Python/FastAPI backend APIs and deployed automated workflows on Azure, helping reduce manual workload by approximately 90% and improve operational efficiency. After identifying hallucination and incorrect tool-calling issues, I migrated the system to a production-ready ReAct agentic architecture, improving reliability, accuracy, latency, and long-term maintainability. I also created webhook-driven automation pipelines and worked closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into modular, extensible AI workflow solutions.

    At Canopus Can-Trading Co., Ltd., a Singapore-based networking company providing maritime connectivity solutions for vessels, I built and maintained Python/FastAPI backend services supporting vessel data ingestion, business logic, and API workflows. I designed RESTful APIs and database workflows to enable seamless data exchange between backend services, external systems, and user-facing web interfaces, while refactoring the backend into controller, service, and repository layers to improve maintainability, scalability, and long-term readability. I optimized PostgreSQL queries, schema usage, and caching flows after RBAC validation, improving data retrieval performance and reducing latency by up to 97%. I also integrated third-party data sources, implemented validation pipelines to improve data consistency and reliability, and deployed backend services on AWS using Docker, Nginx, security middleware, rate limiting, and controlled inbound/outbound network rules. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with frontend developers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable APIs, production-ready workflows, and scalable system designs.
